Latvia Visa Requirements

Overview

A tourist visa allows you to stay for a short period in the Schengen area (not more than 90 days per 6 months)If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:The Embassy of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest.If the traveler is to stay the same time in different Schengen countries, the Embassy of the country of first entry.It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience. Application can be lodged a maximum of 6 months before the start of the intended trip.Holding a valid visa does not automatically give the right of entry to Schengen area. Please, be aware that holding a short-stay visa does not automatically entitle to enter Schengen area. Once arrived at Schengen border control, or during other controls, travellers may be asked to provide information on means of support, on how long they intend to stay in the Schengen State, and why they are visiting the Schengen State.It is therefore recommended to carry with you copies of the documents presented when you applied for the visa (e.g. letters of invitation, travel confirmations, other documents stating the purpose of stay). Visa Fees

  • The applicable visa fee, in OMR (to be paid in cash), is as per the current exchange rate and may be subject to change without notice.

  • VFS service fee of 29.800 OMR (Including 5% VAT) is charged per visa application, in addition to the applicable visa fee.

  • All fees are non-refundable.

Documents Required

Travel insurance is mandatory for all Schengen countries. If you have not purchased, please click hereThe list of documents below is not an exhaustive list of documents and the applicant can always be asked to provide additional information/documents, if desired by the Embassy. Both the standard and the supporting documentation have to be recent, i.e. not older than 1 month, and need to be provided for every Schengen visa application. Applicants always have to bring and present their original documents, but they only need to submit photocopies of the same; unless the requirements specify that an original document has to be submitted.

Photo Specifications

Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements

Please provide one recent photographs (not more than 6 months old) of yourself. The photographs should be in color and:

  • Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.

  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.

  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).

  • Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background].

  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. Photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Processing Time

The minimum processing time of a visa application is 15 calendar days, so applicants are advised to leave enough time - between the appointment date and travel date - for the Embassy to process their visa application; no guarantees can be given on the visa application’s return date as delays may occur.For certain nationalities (see list here) the visa application needs consultation from the other Schengen countries and therefore the minimum processing time takes 15 working days.In order to avoid any delays in the visa application process, it is paramount that the visa application is complete and its documents submitted are as per the Embassy’s requirements (see Documents Required for the different visa categories).

For Latvia, every applicant needs to provide a signed printout of the Schengen visa application form that has to be completed online.
